Sigma Systems Enhances Its Subscriber Information Service with EBIF(TM) Support, Stronger Subscriber Privacy Protection and Improved Performance for Advanced Advertising

SIS 2.0 offers several new features to help TV providers and advertisers capitalize on advanced and interactive advertising

LOS ANGELES -- The Cable Show -- Sigma Systems, an industry leader in Advanced IP Service Fulfillment solutions, today announced further enhancements to its Subscriber Information Service (SIS) with the launch of Version 2.0, which offers several new features and EBIF(TM) support that gives cable TV and IPTV providers a powerful solution for delivering addressable advertising to highly-qualified subscriber audiences.

A key component in the execution and monetization of advanced advertising, Sigma Systems' Subscriber Information Service enables addressability by collecting subscriber-related data and providing the SCTE 130 SIS interface needed to access the data for audience qualification and segmentation.

With SIS 2.0, Sigma Systems delivers support for Enhanced TV Binary Interchange Format (EBIF) interactive TV environments; stronger privacy policies for more secure management of subscriber information; and improved performance to ensure subsecond response times for run-time advertising requirements. In addition, SIS 2.0 includes the latest support for SCTE 130 compliance.

Sigma Systems' SIS 2.0 gives TV operators the ability to aggregate disparate sources of subscriber data from the network, such as service usage and authorization, and combine that data with demographic/household and geographic/location information to create a single view of the subscriber. SIS 2.0 generates audience profile "qualifiers" in subseconds that define new and more granular customer segments that advertisers can use to target their addressable linear, dynamic VOD and interactive advertising in real time. SIS 2.0 also provides strengthened subscriber privacy features, and allows subscribers to either opt-in or opt-out of receiving any targeted advertisements or other campaigns.

TV operators and advertisers will realize the following capabilities and benefits from the enhancements in Sigma Systems' Subscriber Information Service 2.0:

-- Provide target audience reach information for planning campaigns
-- Create audience qualifiers that allow subscribers to be grouped based on advertisers' requirements
-- Enable more effective addressability in multi-platform advanced advertising opportunities

"Increased consumer adoption of IP-based video, including VOD, converged communications and TV Everywhere, has opened the door for operators to deliver higher levels of personalization and interaction to audiences," said Brian Cappellani, CTO and VP of Engineering for Sigma Systems. "With SIS 2.0, operators can leverage customer data and deliver addressable ad campaigns across multiple devices and services to their subscribers."

Interoperability

Sigma Systems' SIS is the industry's most interoperable subscriber addressability platform with numerous successful interoperability tests, including tests with ARRIS, BlackArrow, Cisco, FourthWall Media and OpenTV. Sigma Systems has participated in all of six CableLabs®' Advanced Advertising Interoperability tests, for which Sigma's SIS enabled addressability in use case demos that included: EBIF interactive RFI, dynamic VOD, addressable linear, EBIF interactive telescoping, VOD overlays and EBIF interactive voting & polling.

Live Demos at The Cable Show

Visit Sigma Systems at booth (# 1300) for demonstrations of the Subscriber Information Service platform, which also includes a sneak peak of the SIS Audience Profiling functionality for identification and creation of Audience Profiles. The Audience Profiling capability enables effective audience segmentation during campaign creation.

Sigma Systems' SIS 2.0 is also an integral part of a multi-vendor demonstration in the booths of OpenTV and Unisoft in the CableNET® Showcase area. As part of these demonstrations, Sigma Systems will show SIS-enabled addressability for dynamic linear ad insertion and EBIF advertisements. Also, in ARRIS's booth (#639), SIS 2.0 will provide addressability in ARRIS's linear and VOD demonstrations.
