Philips Lighting Electronics Introduces Optanium® Programmed Start Parallel Ballasts for T8 Fluorescent Lamp Applications

ROSEMONT, IL - Philips Lighting Electronics proudly announces the expansion of its popular family of Optanium® T8 electronic ballasts to include 3 and 4-lamp fixed output models that now feature programmed start parallel operation.

Philips Lighting Electronics' newest Philips Advance branded Optanium ballasts are ideal for a broad range of office, institutional, educational, and commercial applications where occupancy sensors or other frequent switching devices are used. Their parallel programmed start ignition enables independent lamp operation, a feature which can reduce overall maintenance and relamping costs by allowing for exact identification of the expired lamp (thereby avoiding the maintenance time and costs associated with unnecessary relamping). In addition, parallel programmed start operation offers enhanced quality of light over the life of the system by minimizing dark spots from expired lamps. Further, the ballasts' hot restrike feature in remote wired applications involving standard or energy saving lamps allows users to replace lamps without cycling power, even in tandem wired applications, while the ballasts' striation reduction feature reduces the chance of striation issues when used with standard or energy saving lamps.

Designed to maximize energy savings, the highly efficient new models are available with a .88 ballast factor and meet all NEMA Premium® and CEE Energy Efficiency requirements. Overall, the new ballasts deliver significant energy and cost savings, help reduce maintenance costs and concerns, and can assist users in meeting power density requirements established by current state and federal energy and efficiency standards.

Suitable for both new construction and retrofit opportunities, the new Optanium programmed start parallel electronic ballasts for 3 and 4 lamp T8 fluorescent systems represent a maximum-efficiency, high-performing alternative to standard fluorescent systems that will help lighting professionals save time and money while fully promoting sustainable lighting design.
