Compact Size Linux-based ARM9 System on Module Adds Flexibility and Reduces Power Consumption
TAIPEI, Taiwan - Artila Electronics, the leading designer and manufacturer of Linux-ready ARM9 industrial PC, introduces M-502 industrial Linux-based ARM9 system-on-module that increases system performance and still reduces power consumption at the same time.
"Linux on ARM" is now becoming a trend due to its advantages of being light, compact, and cost-effective. M-502 is embedded with 400MHz/MMU ATMEL AT91SAM9G20 CPU, which increases M-502 system performance yet lowers the power consumption at least half compared to 180MHz ATMEL AT91RM9200, which is embedded in Artila's first generation of industrial system-on-modules.
x86 systems have high demands on memories and hard disk space, further denying the possibility for the product to be small sized. On the other hand, ARM processors carrying Linux has no such problems. Without requiring large volumes of onboard peripherals, M-502 is able to come in COMPACT size, as small as a credit card.
Compact size and low power consumption makes M-502 cost-effective in both monetary and energy-saving term. Linux is an open source, which saves users a great deal of money in buying licenses. And with fewer onboard peripherals, low power consumption namely is the most obvious benefit, saving your energy bills.
