June 1, 2011 - Combining 800 MHz ARM1176JZF CPU, OpenGL-ES 2.0-compliant GPU, and multi-standard 1080p video decoding engine, PRIZM WM8710 fosters development of entry-level Android media tablets and Windows CE SmartBooks. SoC delivers H.264 video encoding and DDR2/DDR3 DRAM interfaces in addition to HDMI, LVDS, TV-out, DVO, and VGA video interfaces. Additional features include networking and peripheral interfaces, hardware security engine, and power management capabilities.

WonderMedia Announces PRIZM WM8710


Power-efficient, high-performance SoC platform to unleash the explosive growth of the global market for entry-level Android media tablets

Taipei, Taiwan - WonderMedia Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of energy-efficient, feature-rich system-on-chip platforms, today announced the PRIZM WM8710 SoC.

Combining a highly energy-efficient ARM 11 core running at 800Mhz with advanced graphics and stunning 1080p video playback capabilities, the PRIZM WM8710 further extends WonderMedia's leadership in the fast-growing entry-level Android media tablet and Windows CE SmartBook markets. With its high-performance, and feature-rich design, the WM8710 is also optimized for a wide range of innovative system design applications, including Smart TV, SmartStream for wireless display and multimedia streaming, networked projectors, digital signage, and thin clients.

WonderMedia will display a PRIZM WM8710 Tablet Reference Design Kit at Computex (TICC Room 201D) along with a selection of innovative media tablets and SmartBooks from leading manufacturers featuring the PRIZM WM8650 platform.

In addition to media tablets, WonderMedia will also be demonstrating other applications for the PRIZM platform, including the leading-edge WonderMedia SmartStream technology for wireless display which allows users to directly project the movies, videos, and photos and other digital content on their phone, tablet, or PC directly to their TV.
