New Swinghandle Latches Offer Versatile Style, Functionality for Indoor/Outdoor Enclosures

Concordville, PA, January 9, 2009 - A new line of stylish SouthcoŽ H3 swing handle latches accommodates numerous options for indoor and outdoor single-point and multi-point latching, with the convenience of drop-in replacement in industry-standard panel preparation dimensions. All models provide the familiar simplicity of swing handle operation, in a low-profile housing designed to be both aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing. Separately specified cams, extension rods and locking features offer numerous permutations of latching configurations for applications ranging from datacenter, to electrical, industrial or outdoor telecom enclosures.

Available in two sizes for standard panel preparation openings - 25 x 125 mm and 25 x 150 mm - the new H3 swing handles offer choices of a direct drive handle for single- and multi-point applications, as well as a gearbox-drive for multi-point latching. The gearbox allows for mounting closer to the edge of the door - an added advantage in applications where the latch is mounted outside of a gasketed area. Mounting options for either drive-style permit both clockwise and counter-clockwise handle rotation. And all formats feature die-cast zinc housings for durability and corrosion-resistant performance in both indoor and outdoor installations. Specific gasket-sealed latches are also available for outdoor use and can accommodate NEMA 4/IP66 enclosure requirements.

Multiple choices for user access, finish treatments and dimensional fit provide diverse, cost-effective options for security, aesthetics and functionality. Access control and security versatility includes non-locking, padlocking and tool-access styles, plus multiple key-code options-including cylindrical lock cores, and DIN lock cores-to satisfy user-specified needs. Standard finishes are satin chrome and black powder-coated finishes, with custom-color powder-coated finishes also available.

Separately ordered cams permit frame configurations with grip dimensions (the distance from the door surface to the point of cam engagement) ranging from 10.3 mm (0.41 inches) to 50.9 mm (2 inches). Extension-rod lengths for multi-point latching accommodate door spans beyond 2m (6.5 feet) while rod styles include fixed "bullet-nose" as well as rod roller styles.
