Linear Introduces New LRA Actuator Swing Gate Operator at FENCETECH'08
LAS VEGAS (February 4, 2008) - At FENCETECH'08 this week, Linear LLC, an innovator in access control products, will introduce its new linear drive swing gate operator, the LRA (Linear Residential Actuator). The new electro-mechanical system is designed for residential applications and utilizes the new APeX(TM) gate operator controller, which features a streamlined design and improved diagnostics and communications.
The new LRA is an electro-mechanical screw drive with a 24-volt DC motor. Made of sleek aluminum to make it more weather resistant, the LRA features a usable stroke length of 16 inches, and can handle a maximum gate weight of 600 pounds. The LRA offers superior reliability, using magnetic reed limit switches built into the arm for reliable mechanical setting and repeatability. The LRA can be used in either single-gate installations or dual-gate installations. The LRA is powered by two 7 Ahr batteries that can be charged using AC power or solar power with the addition of optional solar panels. The batteries and the APeX controller are housed in a fiberglass enclosure.
The APeX features an integral entrapment sensing system with a digital set point, so it can be adjusted quickly for ease of installation. It also features an integrated selectable pre-start warning alarm to indicate gate movement. It also features a maximum run and auto close timer that can be set for up to nine minutes.

The new LRA gate operator also features on-board, low-voltage surge protection for lightning protection on all inputs. It also has plug-in loop detector capability (open, shadow/reset, reversing), as well as pluggable, European-style field wiring connectors. There is an enhanced LED diagnostic display and a built-in MegaCode radio that can accept up to 40 handheld transmitters and two MGT gate edge transmitters, as well as an integrated three-button station. It has automatically resetting fuses, and there are no dipswitches or potentiometers to set. The APeX controller meets all UL 325 requirements and is CUL listed.
