Littelfuse Continues Expansion of SIDACtor® Broadband Optimized(TM) Product Line with New Series for Cost-Sensitive Customer Premises Equipment Applications

TwinChip(TM) Axial Series SIDACtor provides low-cost broadband overvoltage protection for customer premises equipment (CPE) requiring low capacitance devices for tape and reel application.

DES PLAINES, IL -- May 1, 2008 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS:LFUS) today announced another expansion of its Broadband Optimized(TM) SIDACtor® overvoltage protection product series. The new TwinChip Axial series SIDACtor was designed to serve the requirements of broadband customer premises equipment (CPE), such as IP phones, DSL modems, and VoIP terminals.

The TwinChip Axial series comprises low capacitance DO-15 axial lead SIDACtor devices with specific working voltages in the ranges of 220-320VDC, making it an ideal solution for regulatory requirements such as TIA-986-A and ITU K.21.

The TwinChip SIDACtor configuration of this product provides bidirectional protection to limit voltage surges to a safe level, while handling surge currents up to 100A under lightning surge test conditions of 10x560µs (repetitive waveform).

The TwinChip design also results in a stable off-state capacitance of less than 20pF, thereby reducing the chance of signal distortion. The insertion loss of the TwinChip Axial Series is essentially zero up to 10MHz, and rolls off to about -1.2dB at 100MHz.

Littelfuse TwinChip Axial SIDACtor devices may provide a better alternative than GDT (Gas Plasma Tube) and MOV (Metal Oxide Varistor) circuit protection devices typically used with broadband CPE applications. This product will hold surges to lower overshoot values and offer a less limited surge life, both features that may be desired in some instances.

The TwinChip Axial Series devices are UL recognized (File E133083), and comply with TIA-968-A and ITU K.21 communications standards. They are RoHS (Restrictions On Hazardous Substances) compliant, and available in reel pack quantities of 5000 to meet OEM demands for efficient, low-cost circuit board installation.

OEM samples are available from stock. Reel quantity orders typically ship 8-10 weeks ARO.
