Littelfuse Introduces SP3050 Series - Low Capacitance, Surge/Lightning Protection Array

Newest addition to the SPATM portfolio is designed to suppress large surge/lightning transients per IEC61000-4-5 with just 2pF of total capacitance.

CHICAGO, Illinois, August 6, 2009 - Littelfuse, Inc. (NASDAQ/NGS: LFUS) today announced the introduction of the SP3050 Series, a four-channel diode array with an integrated zener diode.

The SP3050 series comes in a SOT23-6 package and provides a high level of protection against EOS threats such as ESD and surge/lightning for electronic devices.

It is particularly suitable for secondary or tertiary protection in 10/100/1000 Ethernet applications where surge/lightning transients are the main concern. Furthermore, the total capacitance of 2pF makes it usable in higher speed applications such as USB 2.0 where an enhanced level of ESD protection is often required.

The new SP3050 Series is RoHS compliant and complies with the following standards:

o ESD, IEC61000-4-2, ±20kV (contact), ±30kV (air)

o EFT, IEC61000-4-4, 40A (5/50ns)

o Lightning, IEC61000-4-5, 10A (8/20µs)

The SP3050 device has a 6V reverse standoff voltage with extremely low leakage ≤1µA. Furthermore, it has a dynamic resistance under 0.7 W that gives it an excellent clamping capability for ESD and surge/lightning transients.
