New WSLP2726 and WSLP4026 Surface-Mount Power Metal Strip® Resistors

The News:

Vishay Intertechnology's New Power Metal Strip Resistors in 2726 and 4026 Case Sizes Feature High Power Ratings From 5 W to 7 W and Extremely Low Resistance Values Down to 0.5 mW

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) announces two new surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistors in the 2726 and 4026 case sizes that combine high power ratings from 5 W to 7 W with extremely low resistance values down to 0.5 mW. The devices offer a 4-terminal design that allows for stable resistance tolerances to 1.0 %.

o Solid metal nickel-chrome or manganese-copper alloy resistive element with low TCR (< 20 PPM/ºC) that is specially selected and stabilized

o Allow for the design of high-power circuits featuring the smallest possible resistor for higher-performance end products

o High-temperature capability allows for use in harsh, high-temperature environments without sacrificing power rating or electrical performance

o A proprietary processing technique produces extremely low resistance values

The Key Specifications:

o Power ratings from 5 W to 7 W

o Resistance range from 0.5 mW to 2.0 mW

o Resistance tolerances of 1.0 % and 5.0 %

o Operating temperature range of - 65 °C to + 170 °C

o 2726 case size measures 0.272 in. by 0.260 in. [6.9 mm by 6.6 mm] with a maximum height profile of 0.117 in. [3.0 mm]

o 4026 case size measures 0.400 in. by 0.260 in. [10.1 mm by 6.6 mm] with a height profile of 0.117 in. [3.0 mm]

o Inductance of 0.5 nH to 5 nH
o Thermal EMF < 3 µV/°C

The Perspective:

Vishay's new WSLP2726 and WSLP4026 surface-mount Power Metal Strip resistors combine compact 2726 and 4026 case sizes with high power ratings from 5 W to 7 W. This allows for the design of high-power circuits featuring the smallest possible resistor for higher-performance end products. The advanced construction of the resistors incorporates a solid metal nickel-chrome or manganese-copper alloy resistive element with low TCR (< 20 PPM/ºC) that is specially selected and stabilized. This results in a high-power resistor with an operating temperature range of - 65 °C to + 170 °C, while maintaining the superior electrical characteristics of the Power Metal Strip construction. The resistors' high-temperature capability allows the use of the WSLP2726 and WSLP4026 in harsh, high-temperature environments without sacrificing power rating or electrical performance. A proprietary processing technique produces extremely low resistance values down to 0.5 mW, while a 4-terminal design allows for stable resistance tolerances to 1.0 %.

Availability: Samples and production quantities of the new resistors are available now, with a lead time of six to eight weeks for larger orders.
