New Surface Mount Molded Toroid for RF Applications

SMT 2920 Offers Robust Design for "High Q" and Other Applications

23 May 2006, Gowanda, NY (USA) - Gowanda Electronics announces the introduction of its new "SMT 2920", the first in a series of robust surface mount inductors which provides design engineers with a molded and shielded toroidal inductor for RF applications, especially those with high Q requirements.

The new SMT 2920 encapsulated toroids will assist design engineers with their efforts to address the market need for highly robust devices for a variety of RF applications. The SMT 2920 is molded for durability, shielded to allow usage in the presence of magnetic fields, and designed to be insensitive to operating temperature changes over the range of -55°C to +105°C.

The SMT 2920 was designed specifically for applications where temperature stability, high Q and high frequency are important. This new inductor is expected to find utility in applications such as RF signal circuitry in communications equipment, test & measurement equipment, medical diagnostic equipment and industrial process control equipment. Additional applications include use in telecommunications, navigation equipment, networking, and other computer peripherals, as well as in security systems, instrumentation, bar code and laboratory analysis equipment, aviation equipment, navigation equipment, electronic test equipment, and cable TV.

Technical specifications for products in the SMT 2920 series include: inductance range from .50 µH to 5.0 µH, Q of 100, DCR from .10 to .50 ohms and current rating from .78 to 1.75 amps. The SMT 2920 series is constructed with a powdered iron core for exceptional temperature stability (-55°C to +105°C).

Gowanda Electronics also offers custom designs in the SMT 2920 series in order to meet the specific requirements of an application. For design details, custom requirements and standard or custom pricing, please contact Gowanda Electronics at (716) 532-2234.

This new SMT 2920 series complements Gowanda's extensive range of leading edge inductor designs for RF and power applications. For more information about Gowanda's products and capabilities please go to www.gowanda.com. Full text news releases are available in the "news" section of the web site.
