Greycon Suite Version 6.9 Introduces Quota Management, Extensions for Direct Stock Application and Computational Speed Improvements of up to 8x
London, England - 17 September 2009- Greycon Ltd., a world leader in supply chain optimisation for the paper, printing, film and nonwovens industries, today announced the release of Greycon Product Suite version 6.9. The suite includes new modules and offers enhancements for all products within the suite: X-Trim, a market leader in trim optimisation, D-Opt, a patent-pending product cycle optimisation solution, and S-Plan, an advanced planning & scheduling system.
Greycon Suite Version 6.9 introduces the following key enhancements:
S-Plan Quota Management - Developed in conjunction with Drewsen Spezialpapiere, this functionality allows the reservation (and gradual release) of production capacity for different market segments. With this yield management mechanism, capacity can be held in reserve for better opportunities, helping to maximize revenue.
X-Trim Speed Improvements - Certain algorithms within the product have been improved by a factor of 7.9x on a 4-core processor, using multi-threaded parallelization technology. The speed gains are greatest for larger problems.
X-Trim Direct Stock Application - Developed in conjunction with International Paper, and extending the functionality introduced in version 6.8 for directly applying excess inventory to incoming orders via a rewinding step, the new functionality uses the same editor to allow the user to apply inventory reels that exactly match the orders. Pre-allocating excess stock if it exactly matches incoming orders helps reduce inventory.
X-Trim Third-Stage Rewinding - X-Trim 6.9 now can model situations where after a coating / extruding step there is a rewinding step.
Usability & Other Improvements- These include a monthly calendar view in D-Opt, limit count orders, improved visibility of position constraints, additional sample data for training and testing.
In accordance with Greycon's continuous improvement approach, release 6.9 includes 81 enhancements and more than 850 bug fixes. Version 6.9 is the most stable and tested software Greycon has ever released - a direct result of Greycon's Zero-Bug Project and extensive on-site testing by pilot customers.
