Littelfuse Introduces Industry's First 125V Subminiature Surface Mount Fuse with Current Rating Above 15A

456 Series fuse offers high-amp circuit protection in a tiny package compatible with faster pick and place electronics assembly processes

DES PLAINES, Illinois, September 10, 2007 - Addressing customer requests for smaller embedded device protection of higher-current applications, Littelfuse (NASDAQ: LFUS) has launched a new series of fast-acting ROHS and UL compliant 20A and 30A subminiature surface-mount fuses.

Measuring only 10.10-mm (0.397-in.) long and 3.12-mm (0.123 in.) width and height, Littelfuse Nano2 456 Series ceramic fuses are available in 20A and 30A ratings, with interrupting ratings are 100A at 125 VAC and 300A at 65 VAC respectively.

The 456 Series was designed for situations where an ultra-small profile and higher-amp, pick and place surface mount fuse is desired.

Conceived as a custom solution for a world leading web server manufacturer, this product is now being offered globally. In addition to serving as an embedded secondary protection solution for PC servers, the 456 Series is also targeted to protect applications such as power supplies, wireless base stations, large scale storage systems and other higher current electronic systems.

The 456 Series enables circuit engineers to design-in reliable primary and secondary over-current protection with a single miniature fuse. Beyond the benefit of space-saving design, the 456 Series can serve as a more stable and reliable alternative to using similar smaller-amp Nano fuses in tandem. Prior to the introduction of the 456 Series, a dual-fuse method was the only way to achieve circuit protection greater than 15A using Nano fuses.
