Strain Sensor suits process monitoring applications.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring digital charge amplifier in compact sensor housing, Type 9238 enables adjustment to processing operations. Sensor sensitivities can be programmed by ManuWare(TM) software, which matches sensor to signal conditioners or process monitors. Since transmitter measures force indirectly through proportional material strain, it can be located in accessible locations within manufacturing machinery. Single, IP67-rated cable offers resistance to production environments.

Original Press Release:

Strain Sensor Has High Flexibility

Amherst, NY (May 5, 2008) - A new generation of strain transmitters with exceptional adaptation benefits for process monitoring is announced by Kistler Instrument Corp. Combining an advanced digital charge amplifier in a compact sensor housing the type 9238 enables extremely easy adjustment to processing operations. Integral electronics enables programming sensor sensitivities by new ManuWare(TM) software that matches Kistler sensors to Kistler signal conditioners or process monitors. Other adjustments to complicated processes, such as stepper motor settings are made with similar ease. This design allows the sensor to be used in several ranges, like charge mode, high impedance instruments but eliminates cable noise issues. The piezoelectric element has high sensitivity, high overload protection and extremely long service life over strain gage types.

Mounting the sensor is simplified by a single screw. The transmitter measures force indirectly through proportional material strain and thus can be located in more accessible locations within manufacturing machinery. A single, heavy duty cable rated at IP67 is resistant to production environments where involved processing and rigorous product quality testing may be improved with this communication proficient sensor.

Kistler is a worldwide supplier of precision instrumentation for the measurement of pressure, force and acceleration serving the R&D, Industrial and OEM Communities.
