Satisfy PRM TSI Requirements for Disabled Passengers with the Series 84 Stop Request Pushbutton

Milford, CT - EAO Corporation of Milford, CT USA, a premier global supplier of Human Machine Interface (HMI) Systems and Components, announces the Series 84 Stop Request Pushbutton for public transport vehicles. This new pushbutton is designed to provide persons with reduced mobility increased travel opportunities and meet the PRM TSI directive (Persons of Reduced Mobility Technical Specification for Interoperability).

The Series 84 Stop Request features high-reliability Series 84 pushbutton technology, with raised symbols for passengers who are visually impaired, and an illuminated LED halo to provide a visual indication for hard-of-hearing passengers. The S84 Stop Request can be pole mounted or panel mounted in a contoured housing that will easily complement any passenger environment.

The tactile feedback of the S84 short-travel switching system operates at the slightest touch and provides positive tactile feedback to passengers. Typically a very low force between six and twelve Newtons activates the switch. Lenses are made from rugged aluminium for extra durability. The symbols are raised 1 mm from the lens surface and are greater than 18 mm wide. A range of common symbols/pictograms are standard, including wheelchair ramp request and door open/close. Custom symbols are also available.

An LED-illuminated halo around the lens can be activated when the pushbutton is pressed. This provides a clear visual indication of switch status for hard-of-hearing passengers. LEDs are available in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or white.

The S84 Stop Request is easily mounted. The S84 housing is available in several bright colors and is secured to any pole between 25 - 38 mm, using just two screws. It can be supplied as a complete unit with a choice of connections, ribbon cable, or plug-in terminals. Accessories include a lens remover, mounting tool, switch element remover, and adapter to change pole mounting size.

The S84 Stop Request conforms to worldwide standards. It is shock, vibration, and climate resistant, and sealed to IP67. The S84 uses a high-quality, normally-open contact of gold-plated silver alloy rated 10µA - 100mA, 50mVAC/VDC - 42VAC/VDC. Under optimal operating conditions, it will last for at least one million activations and is built to withstand the rigors of harsh, repeated public use.

Many of the world's leading manufacturers in transportation, including rail/bus/coach suppliers, work with EAO as their partner for the integration of HMI Systems and Components with their mission-critical applications.
