Wolfson Announces High Performance Stereo Line Driver

Edinburgh, UK - Wolfson Microelectronics plc has today announced the latest addition to its growing portfolio of audio amplifiers: the innovative high performance 2 Vrms stereo line driver, WM3100.

The WM3100 delivers exceptional audio performance of 108 dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and -95 dB total harmonic distortion plus noise (THD+N) in a small 14-pin SOIC package, with dedicated pins to control mute and output modes. The WM3100 targets applications which require line level outputs, cost sensitive PCB design and minimal external components such as digital televisions, DVD recorders, Blu-ray players, gaming consoles and set-top boxes.

The WM3100 is powered by a single 3.3 V supply and features ground-referenced stereo 2 Vrms outputs, stereo differential inputs and also supports stereo single-ended inputs in both inverting and non-inverting configurations. Stereo high performance output amplifiers drive a wide variety of audio loads and the integrated charge pump generates the negative supply for the ground-referenced outputs.

David Brown, Wolfson's Product Line Manager for Audio Amplifiers and Converters, said: "Wolfson's WM3100 is the perfect solution for a range of applications which require high performance audio quality in a small cost-effective package, yet retains excellent configurability with a minimal external component count."

Availability
The WM3100 is available for sampling now in a 14-pin SOIC package, priced at $0.44 in 1K volume.

WM3100 customer evaluation boards are available to aid device evaluation and development.
