Original Press Release:

Stainless Nilos® -Rings for Bearings Protect Against Contaminants and Harsh Conditions

Stainless steel NILOS®-Rings provide space-saving barrier solutions for ball and roller bearings to protect against tough abrasive particles and other debris that could potentially contaminate bearings and cause unplanned machinery downtime and lost productivity. Corrosion resistance broadens their suitable applications to the food processing, beverage, and other industries where equipment is routinely subjected to washdowns and corrosive elements.

Stainless NILOS-Rings can further serve ideally as practical seals for grease-lubricated anti-friction bearings used in industrial environments generating excessive contaminants, such as in the mining, paper, agriculture, and construction industries, among others.

The rings mount easily on ball bearings and roller bearings, including taper roller bearings. They are available in a wide range of sizes for sealing either a bearing's outer ring or inner ring and can be specified for circumferential speeds up to 1000 surface feet per minute at the contact diameter.

The product line also includes seals for bearings that will operate in extreme-contaminant conditions; spacer rings to promote non-slip clamping; and rings for bearings already equipped with integral shields or seals.

In addition to stainless, NILOS-Rings are available in galvanized steel (standard) and brass (special-ordered). All NILOS-Rings can be customized to meet application-specific requirements.
