Sandmeyer Steel Company Adds SSC-6MO (UNS N08367), a 6% Molybdenum, Superaustenitic Corrosion-Resistant Stainless Steel

Philadelphia, PA - October 3, 2007

Sandmeyer Steel Company has added SSC-6MO (UNS N08367) to its extensive line of corrosion-resistant stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. SSC-6MO is a "superaustenitic" stainless steel containing in excess of 6% molybdenum. The alloy was developed for corrosion-resistant applications in seawater and where conventional stainless steels fail due to chloride pitting and crevice and stress-corrosion cracking. SSC-6MO has superior corrosion resistance to 316L, 317L, 2205, and 904L stainless steels. It can also be used as a cost-effective substitute for some nickel alloys including Alloy 20, 825, Alloy G, 625 and C276. The addition of SSC-6MO will allow Sandmeyer Steel Company to better service the air pollution control, chemical and petrochemical, food and beverage processing, offshore oil and gas production, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, power generation, pulp and paper, and seawater desalination industries.

The Company is stocking SSC-6MO in plate thicknesses from 3/16" (5 mm) through 2" (51 mm) thick. The Company also inventories 300 series stainless steels, duplex alloys 2205, 2304, and 2507, 17-4 PH, 410, and the recently added 410S and nickel alloys 330, 400, 400AR, 600, 625, 800, 800H, 800AT, and C276. With over 100 pieces of in-house plate processing equipment, Sandmeyer Steel Company offers unmatched value added plate processing capabilities.

Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C. Sandmeyer. Family owned and managed, the Company is recognized as a leading manufacturer of stainless steel and nickel alloy plate and plate products. Sandmeyer Steel Company's products are used in process equipment for the chemical, energy, food and beverage, pharmaceutical/biotechnology, pollution control, power generation, pulp and paper, shipbuilding, thermal treatment, high vacuum, and water treatment industries. The Company services customers worldwide.
