Stainless Steel Hoist for Pharmaceutical Clean Room Manufacturing Announced

STREETSBORO, OH - The David Round Company has announced an all-stainless steel strap hoist specifically engineered for demanding pharmaceutical manufacturing use. The new Lab-Lift(TM) product represents an advancement in clean room material handling equipment design to further minimize the potential for contamination.

The Lab-Lift product features a highly polished finish and a urethane-coated lubrication-free lifting strap, which eliminates the particulate contamination associated with chain hoists or wire rope hoists. There is no metal-on-metal abrasion to potentially create particle contaminates. The hoist mechanism is enclosed in a smooth-sided polished 304 stainless steel enclosure for easy wash-down. The enclosure slides away to allow easy cleaning of internal components. A wiper seal for the strap helps isolate the hoist's internal mechanism from the clean room environment.

Construction is all-stainless steel, including motors and motor brakes. Gearing is sealed, with food grade lubrication. Welds are smooth-ground, faces are flush-mounted and fasteners are plugged to further reduce potential contamination. Load hook and latch are stainless steel.

"We are pleased to introduce the first clean room hoist designed from the ground up for lifting in the pharmaceutical environment," said Brad Young, president of David Round. "For a number of years, we have recognized the special requirements of pharma by manufacturing all-stainless steel material and handling products featuring paint-free construction. This new line of hoists builds on this experience, but adds a streamlined completely crack-and-crevice free exterior."

Eight out of ten of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers have David Round stainless hoists in their newest facilities. Many drug makers now mandate all-stainless steel external construction, refusing any painted surfaces, even those with FDA-approved epoxies.

Established in 1869, The David Round Company remains one of the oldest hoist manufacturers in the world. David Round offers standard handling products such as chain hoists, jib cranes, winches and tractor drives as well as innovative solutions including engineered wire rope hoists, all-stainless steel products and jib crane motorization kits.

Major corporations and engineering firms routinely ask David Round to produce items which are non-standard for other material handling equipment suppliers. The company excels at designing and producing custom engineered equipment, purpose-built to tailor to special environments and applications.

Found in almost every industry from pharmaceutical processing and food manufacturing to oil and gas, aviation, pulp and paper and water control, David Round's products improve handling system efficiency while making the workplace a more productive and safer environment through their ergonomic designs.
