April 6, 2011 - Composed of nominal weld metal compositions of 30% chromium, 9% nickel, and 0.1% carbon, SelectAlloy 312 and SelectAlloy 312-C produce 2-phase weld metal with substantial ferrite in austenitic matrix. Flux-cored SelectAlloy 312 welds dissimilar metals such as carbon steels to stainless steels high in nickel, while metal-cored SelectAlloy 312-C welds dissimilar metals at elevated speeds. Both gas-shielded electrodes are available in .045 in. and 1/16 in. diameters.

New Stainless Steel Electrodes Designed to Resist Cracking

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced two gas-shielded, austenitic stainless steel electrodes that are designed with a high level of ferrite to make the weld metal very resistant to cracking, even when highly diluted.

Both SelectAlloy 312 and SelectAlloy 312-C are composed of nominal weld metal compositions of 30% chromium, 9% nickel and 0.1% carbon. These wires produce a two-phase weld metal with substantial ferrite in an austenitic matrix.

SelectAlloy 312 is a flux cored electrode that was developed to weld dissimilar metals such as the joining of carbon steels to stainless steels high in nickel. SelectAlloy 312-C is a metal cored wire designed to weld dissimilar metals as well and to accomplish this at elevated speeds.

Both of these electrodes are available in .045" and 1/16" diameters.

For more information on the new SelectAlloy 312 and SelectAlloy 312-C electrodes, contact Select-Arc at 1-800-341-5215 or visit our website at www.select-arc.com.
