New Stainless Steel Electrodes Designed for Faster Travel Speeds

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced two gas-shielded, metal cored, stainless steel electrodes that are designed for making butt, lap and fillet welds on material at elevated travel speeds.
SelectAlloy 308LSi-C provides a nominal composition of 21% chromium, 10% nickel and 0.8% silicon; SelectAlloy 309LSi-C 24% chromium, 13% nickel and 0.8% silicon. Both offer a maximum carbon content of .03%, which minimizes carbide precipitation and increases resistance to intergranular corrosion. These electrodes feature a smooth, spray arc transfer and produce little or no slag covering and virtually no spatter. The higher silicon levels in each also deliver improved bead wetting.
SelectAlloy 308LSi-C is utilized to weld types 301, 302, 304L, 308 and 308L grades of stainless steel. Typical applications include welded components for the chemical, paper, textile and pharmaceutical industries and for food service equipment.
The applications for SelectAlloy 309LSi-C cover the welding of refinery and chemical processing equipment as well as furnace and auto exhaust parts.
