January 14, 2008 - Suited for welding duplex stainless steels of 22Cr-9Ni-2Mo-N type, metal-cored SelectAlloy 2209-C makes small butt, lap, and fillet welds on thin material at elevated speeds. Weld deposit has duplex microstructure of austenite and ferrite and normally gives ferrite in range of 25-40 FN. Offering resistance to corrosion and pitting attacks in sea water, flux-cored SelectAlloy 2553-AP features nominal composition of 25.5% chromium, 9.5% nickel, 3.5% molybdenum, and .15% copper.

Select-Arc Duplex Stainless Steel Electrodes Handle Demanding Industrial Applications

Fort Loramie, OH - Select-Arc, Inc. has introduced two duplex stainless steel electrodes designed to provide excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion, pitting and stress cracking.

SelectAlloy 2209-C is a metal cored wire utilized to weld duplex stainless steels of 22Cr-9Ni-2Mo-N type. The weld deposit has a duplex microstructure of austenite and ferrite and normally gives ferrite in the range of 25-40 FN. This electrode is ideally suited for making small butt, lap and fillet welds on thin material at elevated speeds. SelectAlloy 2209-C is widely used for welding in the chemical and fertilizer industries, on offshore pipelines and sour gas lines.

SelectAlloy 2553-AP is a flux cored, all position electrode with a nominal composition of 25.5% chromium, 9.5% nickel, 3.5% molybdenum and .15% copper. The weld metal in SelectAlloy 2553-AP exhibits high strength with outstanding corrosion resistance, especially to pitting attack from chlorides in sea water. This wire is also utilized for welding in the chemical and fertilizer industries as well as for many pipeline applications including piping systems, pumps, valves and heat exchangers.

Both electrodes produce little or no slag, virtually no spatter and give a smooth, stable arc transfer.

For more information on the new SelectAlloy 2209-C and SelectAlloy 2553-AP, contact Mike Tecklenburg, National Sales Manager, at 1-800-341-5215.
