PET Olive Oil Square Bottles Introduced by Novapak

EATONTOWN, NJ - New, square PET bottles in 500 ml (16.9 oz) and 1000 ml (33.8 oz) sizes for packaging of olive oil have been introduced by Novapak Corporation.

The 500 ml (16.9 oz) bottle is 8.015" H X 2.408" W with a 3.75" high recess for adhesive labeling and weighs 32 gm. The 1000 ml (33.8 oz) bottle is 9.256" H X 3.159" W with a 4.48" high recess and weighs 45 gm. Both have a 32 mm Bericap neck finish.

The stock line will expand to five sizes early in 2008 with the addition of 250 ml (8.5 oz), 750 ml (25.4 oz) and 1500 ml (50.7 oz) containers.

The bottles are injection-stretch blow molded from universal preforms in a two-stage process said to increase blow ratios, PET molecule orientation, and strength of the resulting container.

According to the company, the high-clarity containers bear close resemblance to traditional glass, olive oil containers while offering superior impact resistance and lighter weight.

Novapak is a major producer of PET, PVC, PP, HDPE and in-line fluorinated HDPE containers for specialty chemical, personal care, healthcare, food, beverage, household and automotive applications. The company is headquartered in Eatontown, NJ, and operates ISO 9001:2000 certified plants in New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois, and a South Carolina plant qualifying for certification.
