Easy-to-Use Polyurea Air-Purge Spray Gun Offers Tool-Less Maintenance

Ergonomic plural-component gun simplifies cleaning, improves productivity

MINNEAPOLIS -December 6, 2002 - A key consideration for users who spray fast-set plural-components materials, such as polyurea, is gun maintenance. Graco Inc. (NYSE: GGG) makes quick and easy maintenance a reality with the Fusion™ plural-component air-purge spray gun. Designed specifically for polyurea, sprayers can easily disassemble and clean the Fusion AP without any tools, ensuring proper material application and productive uptime.

"Due to its short reaction time, polyurea causes guns to clog easily, forcing sprayers to spend a significant amount of time on maintenance," said Brian Zumbolo, worldwide product marketing manager, Protective Coatings Equipment, Graco. "Other competitive guns only use purge air to keep fluid passages clean, leaving material to build-up on the tip and cause clogs. With an additional blast of air on the tip of the gun, the Fusion AP stays clog-free, eliminating the uptime-consuming labor of traditional daily maintenance."

Easy to use. The Fusion's adjustable tip air-blast cleaning feature reduces tip clogging and downtime. In addition, the Quick-shot grease port shortens end-of-day maintenance time and eliminates the need to take the gun apart for cleaning.

"Unlike other guns that need to be cleaned multiple times in one day, we've used the Fusion for up to five days before breaking it down for cleaning," said Eddie Calloway, job foreman, B&H Coatings. "Now, instead of spending time on maintenance, we can concentrate more time on completing material application jobs."

Ergonomic design for day-long comfort. When spraying coatings for extended periods of time, operator fatigue is a risk. The lightweight, ergonomic design of the Fusion reduces this risk, while the four-position fluid manifold and two-position air-
power inlet provide application flexibility and comfort.

Improved mix quality. Operators want to be assured that their spray equipment will produce the results they demand. The Fusion's TurboMix chambers ensure mix and coating quality with a swirling direct impingement design that produces a round or flat
spray pattern with less overspray. When working with plural-component coatings, better atomization leads to a better mix. The Fusion's atomizer tips break down the material into smaller pieces, providing a better mix and a smoother finish. These characteristics reduce time and money spent on cleaning and material waste.

Dependable construction provides maximum savings. Graco designed the Fusion to withstand harsh application demands. Durable hardened stainless steel construction gives mix chambers and seals 50 percent longer life than comparable products, which translate into lower operating costs. Graco estimates that users can expect a return on the Fusion investment in less than six months.

The Fusion gun is designed for use with the Graco Reactor™ plural-component proportioning system. The Reactor's digital controls and diagnostics are easy to use, providing superior mix accuracy in a lightweight, highly portable design.
