May 2, 2002 - HRC Shelves accommodate up to 288 fibers and are utilized where splicing within rack or frame is preferred. They are available in 72, 144, 216, and 288 configurations for individual fiber splicing. Higher density capacity can be achieved by using mass fusion splicing within shelf. FONS Introduces Family Of Rack Mount Splice Shelves

A NATURAL EXTENSION TO FONS' SUITE OF HIGH-DENSITY PRODUCTS FOR COMPLETE FIBER-TO-THE-"X" SOLUTIONS

Northborough, MA - FONS Corporation, a leading provider of fiber optic components and interconnect solutions, introduces the HRC series rack mount splice shelves, the newest addition to its broad line of fiber management products for high-density applications. FONS' new HRC splice shelves were featured, along with the company's complete line of fiber management systems, at the Optical Fiber Communications Conference (OFC) 2002, in Anaheim, California, on March 19-21.

FONS' newly released fiber splice shelves, accommodating up to 288 fibers, are utilized where splicing within a rack or frame is preferred. These modular shelves facilitate splicing within a minimum of rack space, providing optimal fiber density in the most compact and efficient housing. Splice shelves are available in 72, 144, 216 and 288 configurations for individual fiber splicing, and higher density capacity can be achieved by using mass fusion splicing within the shelf. All of these options allow for a variety of splice configurations to meet any customer applications. These shelves can be used as a stand-alone unit or can be stacked with other interconnect optical cross connect shelves.

For loose tube, tight buffer, and other applications which require extra slack fiber storage, FONS' enhanced HRC high-density splice unit facilitates the splicing process to enhance cable management, housing up to 144 individual fiber splices in a compact 5-inch high unit.
