Spherical Roller Bearings offer wear resistance.

Press Release Summary:

Available with cylindrical or tapered bores in wide range of diameters, Explorer Spherical Roller Bearings utilize unique heat treatment for wear resistance, making them suitable for rotating machinery at steel mills. Two rows of self-guiding symmetrical rollers sharing common sphered raceway in outer ring serve to minimize friction and heat generation. Self-aligning capability compensates for misalignment between shaft and housing or shaft deflection without increasing friction.

SKF Introduces Upgraded Spherical Roller Bearings Exhibiting Improved Wear Resistance for Steel Mill Applications

SKF introduces upgraded Explorer class spherical roller bearings exhibiting improved wear resistance ideally suited for a wide range of rotating machinery applications at steel mills.  Their higher resistance to potential wear and/or surface damage due to contaminated or poor lubrication conditions results from a unique heat treatment, which ultimately imparts greater hardness to the bearing steel and maintains toughness of the bearing in service.  Typical steel industry applications for these robust bearings include large electric motors, gearboxes, fans and blowers, and others where contaminants, high temperatures, and high levels of combined loads can be expected.

These bearings additionally offer a self-aligning capability to compensate for misalignment between shaft and housing or shaft deflection without increasing friction or reducing bearing life.  An optimized internal geometry further enables the bearings to accommodate heavy radial loads and moderate axial loads in both directions for enhanced stress distribution.

Among other features, two rows of patented self-guiding symmetrical rollers sharing a common sphered raceway in the outer ring serve to reduce friction, minimize heat generation, and contribute to increased bearing reliability and longer life.  High-strength and dimensionally stable bearing rings minimize the risk of ring cracking and further promote durability and good running performance at high temperatures up to 390º F.

SKF spherical roller bearings are available with cylindrical or tapered bores in a wide range of diameter sizes.  Variations include sealed and factory-greased versions and custom solutions can be engineered to satisfy the most demanding application requirements.
