Polygon Launches New PolyLube(TM) Spherical Bearing

March 19, 2002 - Polygon Company today announced the release of its PolyLube(TM) Spherical Bearing. The PolyLube Spherical Bearing is based on a patent-pending process and bearing material that incorporates a proprietary filament wound inner race in order to maximize load capacity while also providing self-lubrication as the inner section accepts misalignment.

The PolyLube Spherical Bearing is a significant enhancement in performance capabilities over other spherical bearings because both the bearing surface and the inner race are self-lubricating.

Legacy-era spherical bearing systems require lubrication on either the bearing surface or the inner race - and most commonly on both. The PolyLube bearing provides an ability for today's construction, agriculture and material handling OEM's to eliminate lubrication of spherical bearings entirely.

Given that many of these bearing locations are in inaccessible areas of the equipment, the PolyLube spherical bearing offers an ability to lower total bearing cost of ownership through the elimination of grease zerks and complex grease delivery systems.

Founded in 1949, Polygon is a composite development and manufacturing company serving the mechanical, electrical and medical industries. The company utilizes advanced composite processes including filament winding, braiding, circ-winding, and pultrusion to produce a variety of high technology composite products. Polygon Company has corporate offices in South Bend, Indiana and manufacturing facilities in nearby Walkerton, Indiana.
