May 4, 2011 - Handheld spectrodensitometers are available in FD-5 series models that measure density and color, as well as FD-7 series units that can also monitor paper, inks, and plant lighting conditions. Models in FD-7 series offer scanning mode for creation of ICC profiles, and can measure over 400 times/sec. Able to account for fluorescence of paper substrate, both products also allow users to provide measurements that comply with Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications and Tolerances.

Konica Minolta Sensing to Show New FD-Series Spectrodensitometers at Infoflex 2011

RAMSEY, N.J. - Konica Minolta Sensing Americas, Inc. (KMSA), the worldwide leader in the industrial measurement of color, light and shape, announces their participation at Infoflex 2011. The exhibition is being held May 2-3 2011 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, IN.

Infoflex is the premier event in North America for the package printing and converting industry. This will be KMSA's first year exhibiting and showcasing the new FD Series Spectrodensitometers.

These new Spectrodensitometers are available in 2 models: the FD-5 and FD-7. Both are lightweight, handheld models that can measure density and color while taking into account the fluorescence of the paper substrate.

Both the FD-5 and FD-7 have been designed to give converters the ability to provide measurements associated with the requirements of FIRST (Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifications & Tolerances).

The FD-5 has an intuitive user interface which provides fast measurements for press operators to monitor the production run in density or with colorimetric.

The FD-7 has the ability to monitor the production run like the F5, but has added capability to monitor paper, inks and even a plants lighting conditions using the standard Illuminant feature. The FD-7 can be used in a scanning mode for the creation of ICC profiles and can measure over 400 times per second providing spectrophotometric or color metric data to third party ICC color management software products.

Not only do both the FD-5 & FD-7 provide repeatable data, they also have excellent inter-instrument agreement when communicating color within plants, between printing locations, or with brand management companies.

Live demonstrations of the FD-7 will be given at the Konica Minolta Sensing booth #1132

FD-Series Spectrodensitometers are available for purchase from select graphic arts distributors and from Konica Minolta Sensing. Further product information can be found at http://www.konicaminolta.com/sensingusa
