February 5, 2008 - Made of fine-grained solid carbide, Sphinx micro drill is available in 0.30-1.50 mm dia in steps of .01 mm and in standard lengths of 6 x D. Specially designed 2-flute geometry delivers point angle of 130 deg and helix angle of 35 deg for high precision and close tolerance. Drill can be run with or without coolant, and suits materials such as steel (including stainless), titanium/nickel alloys, and aluminum/copper materials with HRC less than 50.

BIG Kaiser Introduces New Solid Carbide Micro Drill from Sphinx with Reinforced Shank


Elk Grove Village, IL - BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. introduces the newest addition to its Sphinx micro drill line. The new drill, made of fine-grained solid carbide, delivers exceptional tool life and consistent process reliability.

The solid carbide micro drills are available in diameters from 0.30mm - 1.50mm, in steps of .01mm, with a 3mm reinforced shank. The drill is offered in standard lengths of 6xD, and can be run with or without coolant. It is recommended for materials such as steel (including stainless), titanium and nickel alloys, aluminum and copper materials, with HRC<50.

The specially designed two-flute geometry delivers a point angle of 130 degrees and helix angle of 35 degrees for extreme precision and close tolerance.

Sphinx produces 3,000,000 tools annually and stocks over 1,200 different standard drills while offering many custom specials. These high precision cutting tools are used in applications from every industry worldwide.
