Solenoids offer pulse width modulation.
April 26, 2002 - PWM Series increases force by up to 300% in continuous duty applications. Integral add-on module controls current to solenoid to provide high initial starting force. It then drops current back after predetermined time. PWM Solenoids are suitable where external solid-state control platform is not available to regulate current and for applications with 2.5 to 25 lb force requirement.

PWM Solenoids Offer Increased Performance In A Smaller Package
Milwaukee, Wis. Deltrol Controls has introduced a new series of solenoids offering pulse width modulation (PWM). This series increases the force of a specific model by up to 300% in continuous duty applications.
The performance improvement is achieved with an integral add-on module that controls the current to the solenoid to provide high initial starting force. It then drops the current back after a predetermined time. Typically, solenoid applications require a high force at the start of the stroke yet produce the least amount of force at the start of the stroke. This can result in the requirement for a larger solenoid model. The PWM series
improves the solenoid operating efficiency when applied in continuous duty applications.
The PWM series has cost effective applications 1) where an external solid-state control platform is not available to regulate current, 2) for space-confined applications, and 3) for many applications with a 2.5 - 25 lb. (40 - 400 ounce) force requirement.
