Secure Computing Unveils Latest Version of Comprehensive Internet Reputation System, TrustedSource.org

Incorporates malware detection, website categorization and spam traffic intelligence, and helps domain owners track level of malicious activity of their domains and IP addresses

November 28, 2007

Secure Computing Corporation (NASDAQ: SCUR), a leading enterprise gateway security company, has announced a new and improved version of the TrustedSource.org portal. The world's leading source for intelligence evaluates the reputation of Web entities and communications in real time, based on behavior. Already the most comprehensive reputation system available, monitoring global messaging and communication content, attachments and images, URLs, domains and IPs, TrustedSource(TM) now also integrates Web traffic and malware data.

"Secure Computing's TrustedSource acts like a satellite advanced-warning system for the Internet that detects suspicious behavior patterns at their origins, and then instructs security devices to take corrective precautions or action," said Dr. Phyllis Schneck, Vice President of research integration for Secure Computing. "TrustedSource pinpoints reputation by looking at behavior and specific factors such as traffic volumes, patterns and trends, and enabling it to rapidly identify deviations from the norm on a minute-by-minute basis."

"The advanced ability to quickly correlate and analyze masses of data like this enables TrustedSource to provide great value for customers. It sets a new precedent in its ability to recognize and block troublesome or nefarious behavior. This is a critical solution for combating today's Web 2.0 zero-day threats, and managing risk vectors that no other products today can address," she added.

New TrustedSource features include, integrated web classification, malware information and messaging in one portal for enhanced reputation intelligence; an unbiased research-only blog for immediate insight and analysis into the latest threats identified by the Secure Computing research and anti-malware teams; a tool that identifies relationships between domains and organized crime groups providing additional correlation intelligence for administrators seeking to understand global cybercrime; a real-time count of mail volume providing dynamic and up-to-date information on spam trends around the world; and for Secure Computing SmartFilter® users, an integrated ticketing system that allows them to provide feedback for web categorization and other options.

Sami Mulla, Regional Director - Middle East and North Africa, Secure Computing, said, "With this release TrustedSource.org is uniquely combining many of Secure Computing's core technologies into a single portal, making it easy for users around the world, including the Middle East, to protect against Internet threats before they are affected. When Secure Computing originally launched TrustedSource it revolutionized the way organizations were able to protect their most critical infrastructure, systems and data. Now, the new and improved TrustedSource.org is building on that success to provide an even more intuitive and comprehensive reputation service."

Michael Osterman, President of Osterman Research, said, "Today, with threat levels increasing dramatically and spikes overwhelming many defense systems, it is imperative to have a resource that leverages research worldwide in core security areas like reputation-based URL filtering, anti-spam and anti-malware. Secure Computing's breadth of data allows it to be extremely comprehensive and current and one of the best sources of reputation available today."

About TrustedSource.org

TrustedSource Portal data is powered by Secure Computing's TrustedSource global threat correlation engine. In addition to general ISP spam data, which is largely consumer centric, TrustedSource receives and analyzes billions of messages per month from Secure Computing's network of gateway appliances deployed globally. Like a virtual credit agency, TrustedSource assigns a reputation score and further classifies senders as good, bad or suspicious based on an in-depth analysis by processing more than a dozen behavior attributes to profile each sender. TrustedSource is the first and only reputation system to combine traffic data, whitelists, blacklists and network characteristics with the unparalleled strength of Secure Computing's global customer base. As opposed to other offerings that do not integrate reputation into the spam scoring, TrustedSource data provides the most accurate and effective spam blocking.
