Raining Data Announces TigerLogic® FastSOA Product Launch at Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit 2006

TigerLogic FastSOA Solves Performance Bottlenecks of Web Services and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) by Caching Data in the Mid-tier in Its Native XML Format

SAN DIEGO, GARTNER Application Integration and Web Services Summit 2006, June 19 / / --Raining Data today announced TigerLogic(R) FastSOA Product Launch at the Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit 2006. Raining Data is located in Booth V during the Solution Showcase.

Web Services and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) places new demands on the existing technical infrastructure within enterprises, organizations and institutions. While SOA yields desirable flexibility, the downside is often decreased performance. As the number of applications and services in the organization increases, XML message exchange among shared services becomes the bottleneck, particularly for services that access databases using multiple and complex schemas. TigerLogic FastSOA mid-tier data and service cache provides accelerated access to enterprise data and avoids performance problems from a concentration of requests through a small number of data access services. Mid-tier data caching offers a solution to achieve required system performance and flexibility by moving the required data as close to the services as possible.

TigerLogic FastSOA mid-tier data cache adheres to open standards and plugs into existing technology environments using current protocols and formats. Little or no custom code is required. Data is cached in native XML format either in memory or on disk. Keeping cached data in native XML provides an efficient service response to XML-based requests such as SOAP and avoids costly transformations between XML to Java Objects to Mapped Relational Data.

TigerLogic FastSOA is powered by the high performance TigerLogic XML Data Management Server (XDMS). TigerLogic XDMS is up to 22x faster than relational and other XML databases for XML data. Raining Data also offers the FastSOA Performance and Scalability Test Kit so that clients can perform independent testing in their own environment.

"FastSOA: Accelerate SOA with XML, XQuery, and native XML database technology," IBM developerWorks, February 7, 2006.

TigerLogic FastSOA can also be used as an XML message and/or metadata repository to improve governance and knowledge in a Web Services or SOA environment. As an XML message repository, TigerLogic FastSOA captures and indexes all messages in their native XML format. The XML message repository allows managers to profile messages, payloads and transactions for auditing and other purposes. By contrast, a relational database approach would need to store payloads as Binary Large Objects (BLOBS) and profile these contents with full text search, which is highly inefficient and inaccurate. As a metadata repository, TigerLogic FastSOA has a flexible hierarchical multidimensional structure to handle new and changing metadata. By contrast, a relational database approach has a rigid structure, which requires significant effort to handle metadata changes and versioning.

About the Gartner Application Integration and Web Services Summit 2006
