Edwards Introduces 'MEDI-Lite' - Allows PC Sound Card To Utilize Speakers

CHESHIRE, Conn., Aug. 17, 2004 - Edwards Signaling & Security Systems' announces MEDI-Lite, a conventional application of Edwards's standard MEDI software system, that uses a PC's sound card as an audio source to sound speakers from a desktop or laptop computer. MEDI-Lite can sound Edwards' Adaptatone® signaling system wav files, custom wav files, or real-time voice (using the PC microphone) over conventional 25 or 70V speakers or speaker/amplifiers. MEDI-Lite is a cost effective way to sound scheduled events using the Edwards MEDI software package for non-network signaling.

Edwards' standard Millennium Event Driver Interface Software (MEDI) is a Windows-based package that enables users to command and control a network of remote signaling devices throughout a facility directly from a computer. The software, for example, can be programmed to automatically signal work start and stop times, break times, or any other desired timed event, and can also be configured to manually initiate tones, wav files, or real time voice messages. Used in conjunction with Edwards' Adaptatone' RS485 signaling devices network, the standard MEDI software has the ability to sound through all units or through selected zones.
