Idera Announces Enhanced Performance and Availability Management Solution for Microsoft SQL Server

SQL Diagnostic Manager 4.5 Provides Powerful New Query and Operating System Performance Monitoring and Metrics

HOUSTON, Oct. 24 // -- Idera, a leading provider of management and administration solutions for Microsoft SQL Server, today announced a new enhanced version of SQL diagnostic manager 4.5, the company's award-winning performance and availability management solution for Microsoft SQL Server.

Designed to meet the needs of enterprise-scale SQL Server implementations, SQL diagnostic manager provides industry-leading performance monitoring, powerful alerting, and deep diagnostics for SQL Server environments. Easy-to-install and implement, SQL diagnostic manager provides continuous, low-impact monitoring of all SQL Servers throughout an enterprise from a central point of control. SQL diagnostic manager was recently chosen as the best SQL Server performance monitoring solution in SQL Server Magazine's 2006 Editor's Choice Awards.

New features delivered in SQL diagnostic manager v4.5 include:

o Monitoring Most Frequently Executed Queries -- Provides continuous
monitoring and identification of the most frequently executed queries
on a server. Metrics provided include, the number of times a query was
run, total duration, total CPU time, and total reads/writes. These
metrics complement the metrics monitored by SQL diagnostic manager's
existing 'Worst Performing Queries' analysis to provide a powerful
solution for identifying and resolving query performance bottlenecks.

o Monitoring Operating System Metrics -- Provides the ability to monitor
and alert on a wide range of operating system performance metrics
including, CPU and memory usage, average disk queue length, disk time,
and paging. These metrics combined with the SQL diagnostic manager's
existing SQL Server performance metrics and powerful alerting
capabilities provide a comprehensive performance dashboard enabling
DBAs to quickly identify, diagnose and resolve performance and
availability problems 'in-flight'.

o Maintenance Mode -- Provides the ability for the server to be placed in
maintenance mode, which prevents data collection and alerting from
occurring during periods of maintenance, stress testing and planned
downtime.

"SQL diagnostic manager's unparalleled monitoring, alerting and diagnostic capabilities are essential to ensuring the performance and availability of SQL Server databases," said Rick Pleczko, president and CEO at Idera. "This is why thousands of companies around the world, including some of the world's largest SQL Server infrastructures rely on SQL diagnostic manager to ensure 'round the clock' availability of their mission critical databases."
