GE Inspection Technologies Expands Rhythm Software Platform Rhythm Visual and Rhythm Archive add additional capabilities for aerospace, oil & gas and energy non-destructive testing inspections

Billerica, Mass -July 12, 2007. GE Inspection Technologies is pleased to announce new components to its Rhythm software product line: Rhythm Visual and Rhythm Archive. Rhythm Visual allows remote visual inspection (RVI) users to enjoy the benefits of Rhythm, including more effective, flexible and robust management of inspection data. Rhythm Archive provides all Rhythm software users a complete DICONDE-based inspection data storage system.

The software allows users in the aerospace, oil & gas and energy industries to improve asset management and act as a technology enabler for conditioned-based maintenance.

RHYTHM VISUAL
Rhythm Visual brings standardized reporting for ease of comparison, more effective data storage to facilitate database searches, simplification of information sharing and easier reporting, with time savings of up to 70%. Images within standardized reports can contain measurement data for use in condition-based maintenance programs, enabling RVI to be used as a quantitative, as well as a qualitative, inspection technique.

All data used is saved and transferred in the DICONDE format. Rhythm's compliance with this data communication protocol ensures users are not constricted by current proprietary formats. It can also avoid legacy data conversions when upgrading inspection systems, ensuring data will never become obsolete. Moreover, the software architecture is scaleable and the system is modular for potential expansion to meet future requirements.

GE Inspection Technologies is uniquely positioned to advance RVI solutions at a rapid rate. The addition of Rhythm Visual to GE's proven hardware solutions such as the Everest XLG3 VideProbe system and industrial Pan-Tilt- Zoom (PTZ) cameras allow a complete inspection and analysis solution for the user. The total hardware/software solution can help improve the life and reliability of in-service assets while improving inspection productivity.

RHYTHM ARCHIVE
With a capacity of more than 300 million images, Rhythm Archive, a robust, secure and flexible software database, features quick and easy input and retrieval of information and its simple tagging system eliminates the need for the complex image file naming conventions often associated with high volume information storage.

Rhythm Archive represents an innovative long-term storage solution for large volumes of inspection information in a single storage source. It accepts images from any number of LAN-connected, remote Rhythm Review workstations and stores these using various compression techniques to save storage space without sacrificing image quality. Input and retrieval of information is quick and easy, by virtue of a simple DICONDE tagging system. Furthermore, Rhythm Archive not only stores the raw inspection data but also any enhanced images developed at a Rhythm Review workstation.

Apart from its large volume archiving and long-term storage capabilities, Rhythm Archive offers additional significant user benefits, including more efficient data searching, because information from workstations in the network is available at one central repository. Rhythm Archive can control image information workflow so that data can be routed to other Rhythm Review workstations for further analysis. It can also afford productivity improvements by as much as 50%, as pre-inspection plans can now be formulated more efficiently by taking actual inspection history into account.

A similar order of productivity improvement can also be achieved in post- inspection, as only relevant inspection data needs to be sent for further analysis. Rhythm Archive's flexibility allows it to interface with a wide range of cutting-edge, long-term data storage solutions, including UDO (Ultra- Desity Optical) discs, which guarantee more than 50 years of data availability. The software is robust, with built-in disaster-recovery plans, and user IP addresses ensure data security.

Rhythm Archive will find application throughout the industrial spectrum, wherever there is a need for the long-term storage of large volumes of inspection data and where there is a requirement for accessibility to this data to increase the efficiency of inspection regimes, to share inspection data and to improve the management of in-service assets.
