Companies Collaborate to Deliver Policy Manager for TIBCO ActiveMatrix Service Virtualization Platform
PALO ALTO, Calif., Dec. 4 -- TIBCO Software Inc. (NASDAQ:TIBX) today unveiled a comprehensive, standards-based policy solution for service-oriented architecture (SOA), TIBCO ActiveMatrix(TM) Policy Manager. TIBCO leveraged AmberPoint's market-leading SOA runtime governance technology to deliver optimized policy-based capabilities. Also, the companies will continue to collaborate on SOA research and development to drive the adoption of policy interoperability for increasing customer flexibility and choice (see related TIBCO announcements).
TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Manager is one of several products under the TIBCO ActiveMatrix(TM) platform, which is designed to help companies quickly create and deploy new applications and business processes leveraging reusable "services" in a heterogeneous environment. The TIBCO ActiveMatrix platform is fully modular, allowing organizations to select any of the core products such as policy management to address requirements including governance as they arise throughout the SOA lifecycle.

Service Policy Manager
TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Manager provides users the ability to manage and enforce declarative policies across services hosted or mediated by the TIBCO ActiveMatrix platform. The product helps meet compliance challenges, improves agility, and simplifies service-based development. TIBCO ActiveMatrix Policy Manager allows companies to manage such things as authentication and authorization, encryption, logging, auditing and service versioning in a centralized and configuration-driven approach rather hard-coding -- and subsequently updating -- governance logic into all the services. The ActiveMatrix Policy Manager is made up of three components:
o Policy Management Console: An AJAX-based interface that lets appropriate
personnel first define and administer policies, then monitor their
enforcement and results.
o Policy Enforcement: A set of management services that provide the
underlying infrastructure for policy management, including repository,
validation, distribution, and monitoring.
o Policy Execution: Intercepts and analyzes message traffic to and from
managed services and processes those messages in accordance with applied
policies.
The collaboration of TIBCO and AmberPoint reduces the overall cost and effort of enforcing end-to-end governance. The integration of these products enables TIBCO and AmberPoint to seamlessly exchange and delegate policies in a federated governance environment, without the need to install agents into the system.
