Force Computers Announces Enhancement of StackWare® Protocols with Addition of DMTP3 Layer and Configuration/Monitoring Tool

• Distributed MTP3 (DMTP3) stack software supports telecom/networking needs for fault tolerance, high reliability and scalable performance

• Fully integrated stack allows fast, easy configuration for range of Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) based broadband wireline/3G wireless applications

• Optional StackWare Manager tool for configuration and monitoring of SS7 layers for use with telecom PMC controllers and SS7 server blades

FREMONT, Calif. (Sept. 29, 2003) - Force Computers, a Solectron company and a leader in embedded computing, today announced the enhancement of its StackWare® telecom protocol software with the addition of a distributed MTP3 (DMTP3) layer to the Signaling System No. 7 (SS7) stack. Along with an optional SS7 configuration and monitoring tool - StackWare Manager - available to tailor SS7 layers for use with Force's PowerQUICC II based telecom PCI mezzanine card (PMC) controllers and SS7 server blades, DMTP3 offers fault tolerance, high reliability and scalable performance.

Featuring MTP1, MTP2 and DMTP3, the protocol package supports a range of embedded carrier-class signaling systems suitable for different SS7-based applications, from signal transfer points and service control points in broadband wireline to third-generation (3G) wireless nodes. Using an XML or HTML browser, configuration and monitoring of SS7 layers can be accomplished with the StackWare Manager. This distributed architecture is ideal for stringent telecom/networking equipment demands.

"As Force's newest development package for telecom and networking, the DMTP3/StackWare Manager product provides a complete, out-of-the-box carrier-grade signaling solution," said Abdelilah Aadil, Force product marketing manager. "It continues to build on the StackWare package foundation by offering more bandwidth and faster messaging over broadband and narrowband SS7 hardware. Along with higher reliability and scalability, this protocol package eases system integration and upgrading of features, thus decreasing time-to-market for OEMs. The SS7 solution will benefit service providers that are looking to provide efficient, cost-effective utilization of system resources."

Range of building-block solutions for cost-effective, quick time-to-market products

In collaboration with other high-tech leaders, Force works to supply a range of building-block solutions - from VME modules and processor PCI mezzanine cards (PrPMCs) to AdvancedTCA(tm) and CompactPCI(tm) platforms. As the overall embedded solutions leader (source: Venture Development Corp., May 2003), Force is committed to manufacturing boards as soon as possible so OEMs can develop products with their required application features - reducing time from concept to full functionality.

Besides excellent boards, Force also leads in systems and turnkey solutions. With a global footprint of ISO 9001 certified design/manufacturing centers, systems can be integrated as close as possible to OEMs - backed by Force's low-risk, fast-track design/development methodology and supply-chain expertise. Force provides a "total pipeline" approach unequaled in embedded computing - enabling one-stop service for cost-effective, high-level solutions from design to delivery in proven long-term deployment.

Availability and pricing

The new StackWare package is available now. Single-unit pricing starts at $1850. All monetary amounts are stated in U.S. dollars. For more information, call (800) FORCE-99 or contact Force.
