NWA Delivers Data Retrieval and SPC Charting for Wonderware IndustrialSQL Server* 8.0

PORTLAND, Ore. - May 2, 2003 - Northwest Analytical, Inc. (NWA), the world's leader in Statistical Process Control (SPC) software, announces NWA Quality Analyst for IndustrialSQL (InSQL) Server 8.0, an interface extension to the award-winning Quality Analyst SPC charting and analysis software. Wonderware users can now retrieve and analyze process data stored in their InSQL Server 8.0 database.

"More companies are now closely monitoring and managing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive process performance improvements and make informed business decisions," said Louis Halvorsen, Vice President of Engineering at Northwest Analytical. "Quality Analyst puts this process information in the hands of the people that need to use it. The typical user can connect to their InSQL database and retrieve data without needing any understanding of complex database structures or knowing how to write SQL queries."

"With NWA's Quality Analyst, I can pull data from my InSQL database and produce the control charts we need to effectively manage our process and quickly respond to our customer needs," said Andrew Sloan, Manager of Technical Services at Blue Ridge Paper Products.

NWA Quality Analyst is used by world-class manufacturers to analyze plant data for process improvement, vendor certification and regulatory compliance. When integrated with IndustrialSQL Server, it provides the functionality necessary to analyze and translate InSQL data into intelligent information for informed decision-making.

New features added to the Quality Analyst interface include:

• Retrieval of Discrete, String and Analog tags from InSQL databases

• Delta and Cyclic data retrieval

• Support for both Time and Value Deadbands

• Triggering data retrieval using Analog, Discrete or Event tags

• Choice of four InSQL Edge Detection methods; None, Leading, Trailing, Both

• Ability to use unconventional tag names; no alias tag names required

• Elimination of temporary database tables for faster processing and the ability of users without database 'write' permission to use all interface features
