With support for WPA-2 and PEAP-GTC authentication protocols, software provides Atheros-based wireless 802.11a/b/g solution for Windows CE platform. It includes Citrix ICA 9.0 client for application virtualization and access infrastructure applications.

Wyse Adds New Features to Latest Release of Windows CE 5.0 for Thin Computing


New version of industry's most popular thin client OS adds key security, wireless and performance features for the enterprise

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 13 -- Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced its second wave of exclusive enhancements to Microsoft(R) Windows(R) CE 5.0 for its thin client customers. Wyse Feature Release 2 (WFR2) is the latest release of the Wyse-enhanced Windows CE and will be offered in new devices and as an upgrade for current Wyse customers.

"Driving forward on Wyse's promise of providing the latest thin client functionality, including support for performance-enhanced Citrix ICA 9, this new release brings an unprecedented level of functionality and flexibility to Wyse's Windows CE 5.0 based thin clients," said Ricardo Antuna Vice President of Business Line Management at Wyse.

As part of Wyse's ongoing efforts to enhance Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 for thin computing environments, Wyse developed the Windows CE 5.0 WFR2 with a focus in the following areas:

-- Delivering the first industry-standard Atheros-based wireless 802.11a/b/g solution for the Windows CE platform, compatible with leading Wi-Fi solutions from Cisco, Dlink, Linksys, TRENDnet, and others.

-- Industry first USB Wi-Fi LAN adapter support for thin computing environments, part of Wyse's broad strategy to enable Wyse customers to securely connect to the enterprises existing wireless infrastructure.

-- Support for WPA-2 and PEAP-GTC authentication protocols for strong 802.11x wireless authentication.

-- Performance-enhanced Citrix ICA 9.0 client for application virtualization and access infrastructure applications.

-- Integrated Ericom PowerTerm(R) terminal emulators for broad legacy systems connectivity.

-- New Terminal Services Advanced Client (TSAC) functionality that connects and launches RDP sessions from within Internet Explorer as ActiveX(R) components.

-- Improved RDP performance under low bandwidth conditions.
