JDA Software Group Launches Fleet Management V7.4 Featuring Powerful Transportation Network Analysis Tools
Enhanced Software Solution Embeds ArcGIS Network Analyst from ESRI to Provide a Cost-Effective "Lean and Green" Approach to Route Analysis and Optimization
Scottsdale, Ariz. - February 25, 2008 - JDA® Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS) today announced the general release of its JDA Fleet Management (v7.4.1) solution, powered by Manugistics®, a Transportation & Logistics Management software application designed to provide integrated enterprise transportation planning, robust asset management, route optimization and master delivery schedule creation. In addition, JDA is now a certified OEM partner for ESRI ArcGIS Network Analysis and TeleAtlas digital map content.
The newly enhanced version of JDA's Fleet Management solution embeds ESRI's ArcGIS Network Analyst, a powerful geographic information system (GIS) and analysis toolset that enables users to build more efficient and environmentally-friendly distribution networks. It also provides seamless integration with Tele Atlas Multinet and DynaMap digital map and logistics data.
"We are pleased to be the solution a market leader like JDA chooses to keep its customers competitive in today's tough business environment," says Eric Maier, senior commercial business sales manager, ESRI. "ESRI believes that both companies and communities reap the benefits when resources are optimized. This solution is a great fit for that vision."
JDA Fleet Management uses a constraint-based optimization approach to create detailed work plans to manage fleets based on shipment requirements. Its goal is to lower freight costs and maximize asset utilization, while maintaining delivery schedules and high levels of customer service.
The addition of ESRI's ArcGIS Network Analyst provides accurate distance calculation and travel path analysis to create optimized routes across the entire distribution network. It also enables users to dynamically model travel path conditions, taking into account such real-world constraints as turn restrictions, speed limits, height restrictions and traffic conditions at different times of day.
Integration with ESRI's ArcGIS Network Analyst is "plug and play" and allows not only a rapid implementation and deployment of the JDA Fleet Management solution, but allows users to respond faster and more efficiently to changes in their business and distribution network thereafter.
"We enhanced our Fleet Management solution to help companies better optimize their transportation requirements while stabilizing costs and still meeting customer service goals - a daunting task in today's environment of high fuel and asset costs and hours of service restrictions," said Namita Dhallan, group vice president, product management at JDA Software. "With ESRI's powerful real-world network analysis and Tele Atlas logistics data built into JDA Fleet Management, the system also empowers users to design optimized routes covering the least number of miles in the shortest possible time, resulting in more efficient fuel usage and minimized engine emissions. We believe this 'lean and green' approach represents the next generation of environmentally-aware transportation management."
JDA Fleet Management is part of JDA Software's complete suite of Transportation & Logistics Management solutions, designed to help shippers, carriers and transportation service providers more effectively manage their multi-modal logistics networks. Other JDA Transportation & Logistics Management solutions include: Enterprise Transportation Planning & Optimization, Logistics Sourcing, Freight Order Management, Freight Audit & Payment, Shipment Execution, and Logistics Event Management & Visibility.
