proTern(TM) software is designed for Ternary linear and rotary actuator system. With Ternary, any of 16 specific positions can be defined via software, then achieved with absolute accuracy. proTern provides real numerical data for position, velocity, acceleration, deceleration, and force/torque commands using PC or handheld PDA. Ternary is available in 46 mm frame size, with stroke lengths of 25 to 300 mm on TL, and gear ratios from 5 to 25:1 on TR.

New Set-up Software for Ternary Linear & Rotary Actuators
Elk Grove Village, IL - alpha gear drives, Inc., introduces the proTern(TM) set-up software for its Ternary high precision, low cost linear and rotary actuator system. The Ternary products are intelligent actuators that provide more control than a pneumatic cylinder, yet cost far less than a custom servo system. With Ternary, any of 16 specific positions can be defined quickly and easily via software, then achieved with absolute accuracy. The new proTern software provides a quick and easy means of setting up the Ternary with real numerical data for position, velocity, acceleration, deceleration, and force/torque commands using a personal computer or hand-held PDA (Personal Digital Assistant).
A maintenance-free motor with a closed control loop and integrated electronics is the heart of this compact solution. alpha has incorporated an extremely precise and quiet ballscrew for linear motion, and an alpha LP50 gearhead for rotational motion on the rotary actuator.
The Ternary is available in a 46mm frame size, with stroke lengths of 25 to 300 mm on the TL, and gear ratios from 5 - 25:1 on the TR. The actuators can be positioned at speeds up to 450mm per second with forces up to 540N. Two continuous T-slots in the bottom of the housing allow for a variety of flexible mounting configurations. Unique in this product category, Ternary comes standard with IP65 protection.
