Galorath Releases SEER-SEM(TM) Version 7.2

Users Can Define Estimates Using Their Organization's Own Terminology and Development Methodologies

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 11 -- Galorath Incorporated, the leading provider of advanced modeling tools for project estimation, planning and project control, today announced the release of SEER-SEM(TM) Version 7.2. SEER-SEM is a powerful decision-support tool that reliably estimates cost, staffing, schedule, reliability, and risk associated with all types of software development and/or maintenance projects.

SEER-SEM Version 7.2 incorporates numerous additions and enhancements that make the software easier to customize for software development organizations. A new feature, Flexible Activities & Labor Allocations (FALA), allows users to rename software phases and labor categories, and apply user-created custom naming schemes.

"The addition of Flexible Activities & Labor Allocations to the SEER-SEM software model is a huge milestone for us," says Karen McRitchie, vice president of development at Galorath Incorporated. "By allowing users the ability to use their own naming schemes, FALA makes SEER-SEM a chameleon that will work in any software development shop, laying out the estimates according to that shop's terminology and culture. It also enables SEER-SEM to be configured to align with any software development lifecycle methodology."

Version 7.2 also includes new and updated Knowledge Bases. Knowledge Bases allow users to leverage the experience of past projects in an industry database to build more objective, reliable, repeatable and traceable estimates. Three new Acquisition Method Knowledge Bases have been added: Reverse Engineering, Data Conversion and Average Modification. The Acquisition Method Knowledge Bases describe the scope and type of project being developed or maintained. In addition, the Platform Knowledge Bases, which calibrate the basic framework of the software project, have been updated to include 2006 labor rates.

SEER-SEM 7.2 includes updates to SEER Parametric Project Monitoring & Control (SEER-PPMC), which is available in the SEER-SEM Project Manager and Studio Editions. The enhanced SEER-PPMC offers improved tracking and reporting features with updated Forecasting Methods and a new Time Now feature.

o New and enhanced Forecasting Methods have been added to improve the Estimate At Complete. Estimate At Complete is the projected final outcome of the project based on the initial estimate assumptions and the progress to date. Its calculations now incorporate size growth, a critical factor for many organizations that struggle with increases in project scope. There is also an option to base Estimate At Complete on either Recent Performance or on Cumulative Performance.

o The new Time Now enhancement shows the progress or Estimate At Complete based on a previous snapshot, giving users the ability to review past progress as compared to current results.

o Users can now send PPMC Reports and Snapshots views to the Clipboard, to a disk file, or to a SEER-SEM Customer Presort.

Pricing and Availability

SEER-SEM Version 7.2 is shipping now with new SEER-SEM Edition software packages. New pricing options are now available for seat, site and combination seat/site user licenses. An unlimited use site license begins at $29,500 per year.
