Exalead Offers New Exalead one:enterprise OEM Edition

Search Software Embeds Easily into Wide Range of Applications

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 - Exalead(R), a global provider of search software for business and the Web, today announced the availability of an OEM edition of its award-winning enterprise search software, exalead one:enterprise(TM) 4.5 OEM Edition. The OEM-specific version of exalead one:enterprise is designed for independent software providers (ISVs) to easily embed the search technology in their software applications to provide customers with unified information access to structured and unstructured data - regardless of format or location.

Along with ease-of-integration, exalead one:enterprise(TM) 4.5 OEM Edition features Exalead's powerful unified search technology that is especially well-suited to business and competitive intelligence, risk management, litigation and e-mail archiving solutions, as evidenced by its four recently secured OEM agreements with Exanet Inc., Knowings SA, H&S Heilig & Schubert Software AG and Messaging Architects. Each has added Exalead's powerful search functionality to their software offerings.

"Software providers around the globe have begun to realize the benefits of unified information access as a value-added solution for their customers," said Francois Bourdoncle, cofounder and chief executive officer of Exalead. "The extreme flexibility and performance of Exalead's technology, combined with its unified search platform and patented Search By Serendipity(TM) navigation approach, make exalead one:enterprise a compelling solution for those seeking to add a powerful, yet easy-to-use search capability to their application."

Exalead Software Easily Embeds into Any Application

The exalead one:enterprise 4.5 OEM Edition is designed specifically for ISVs serving data- and transaction-intensive markets, including enterprise content management, business and competitive intelligence, document and records management, e-mail and compliance, digital asset management, enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management, publishing and human resources.

"By incorporating an intuitive and simple yet powerful search engine into our ExaStore software, we are providing our customers with a full solution for data management and complete access to information across the enterprise," said Rami Schwartz, CEO of Exanet, the leader in clustered NAS software-based solutions. "We recently introduced ExaSearch, which integrates indexing and searching technologies by Exalead, with our Exastore technology. ExaSearch provides complete solution to the needs and market trends as clearly expressed by our customers."

Exalead has invested significant resources to ensure support for the widest range of software applications, optimized performance across enterprise platforms, ease-of-installation, security compliance and an enriched feature set for end-users.

Key highlights of exalead one:enterprise 4.5 OEM Edition include:
- Extensive API Support: New APIs (Application Programming Interface) to enhance data retrieval and usability:
- The new version of Exalead's "XML Search API" allows ISVs to build their own user interface (UI) with the same level of search features as Exalead's out-of-the box UI: advanced search, facetted navigation, thumbnails and rich preview.
- A new "Push API" adds the ability to push application-specific content into Exalead's index. ISVs can use this new API to develop their own connectors with the same level of features that the built-in connectors offer, including linguistic processing, semantic processing, metadata management, document conversion and integrated administration.
- Optimized Performance: Support for 32- and 64-bit platforms, including multi-core systems, across major operating systems (UNIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows) and compliant with standard technologies (XML, HTTP/REST, Java, .Net).
- Extreme Scalability: Exalead's software does not require a significant hardware investment. Organizations can index up to one hundred million documents on a single server, while updating millions of document per day in real-time and delivering thousands of queries per second using Exalead's replication technology on a server farm. Thanks to its built-in clustering technology, Exalead can scale up to virtually any number of documents and query load by adding servers to the computing grid.
- Limited Search Footprint: Exalead's indexes typically take 30 percent of the size of the indexed text, and can be reduced to as little as 5 percent if needed, by disabling some advanced search features, which is considerably less than competing products.
- Ease of Installation: Exalead's plug-and-play approach allows for quick installation without the need for professional services in typical enterprise environments. It can also be installed in stealth mode, meaning deployment is invisible to the customer.
- Extensive Support: Exalead's software can index and preview more than 320 file formats and offers proprietary support for more than 54 languages, including Chinese, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Japanese and other major Asian languages.
- Security: Exalead automatically adapts to an organization's existing security policies. Administrators can set granular security rules at the user and document level. Custom and repository-specific security environments can also be accommodated.

Exalead OEM Partners Extend the Power of Search By Serendipity(TM)

As with all of Exalead's enterprise software products, users will benefit from Exalead's unique approach to search that lets individuals search the way they think. For every search query, Exalead's patented navigation system automatically generates a table of contents by recording the information's structure and concepts. Users can then refine their search by clicking on hyperlinked categories and related topics, or by location, author or format ("zoom in, zoom out"). They can also easily exclude irrelevant terms and topics. In many cases the document someone is looking for does not contain the words in the original query. By offering a user related terms and categories, one can easily broaden, refine or even refocus a search and more easily explore the results.

Exalead offers a full range of resources for partners, including training, consulting and support services. For more information, please visit Exalead's corporate Web site, http://corporate.exalead.com/.
