Arkeia Delivers Industry's First PostgreSQL Hot Backup Plug-In For Preventing Interruption of Running Databases Under Linux
CARLSBAD, Calif.--Dec. 14, 2004--Arkeia Corp., an international provider of enterprise backup solutions, announced today the release of a new plug-in for hot backup of PostgreSQL databases. Arkeia is the first provider to offer a fully integrated professional online backup and restore solution for the widely used PostgreSQL open source database.
The new hot backup plug-in is compatible with the company's flagship product Arkeia Network Backup, as well as Arkeia Server Backup. It allows Arkeia backup solutions to protect the database without interrupting PostgreSQL services.
The online backup is easily configured through the Arkeia graphical user interface, which provides single click selection of the databases to be backed up or restored on the PostgreSQL server.

In anticipation of the upcoming PostgreSQL v8 release, Arkeia also announced its planned support of Point-in-Time recovery features, which will be introduced with the next PostgreSQL version.
The Linux plug-in for PostgreSQL is priced at $490. A total data protection solution for PostgreSQL users, including Arkeia Server Backup, the automatic Disaster Recovery module and one year of technical support, is available for less than $1,500.
