Alphora Announces the General Availability of Dataphor 2.0

New Version of Toolset Takes Developers Beyond Rapid Application Development (RAD) by Automating Data Access, Business Rules, Data Transformation, and User Interfaces

PROVO, Utah, Jan. 3 - Alphora(TM), developers of innovative software development tools, today announced the general availability of Dataphor 2.0(TM), a next-generation development toolset that automates many of the repetitive tasks traditionally associated with the application development process.

The 2.0 version of Dataphor includes many performance, security, scalability, and usability improvements over the 1.1 version. Built on the Microsoft .Net Framework, Dataphor combines data management concepts with advanced development methodologies to deliver a foundation for Automated Application Development (AAD). Based on the given data model, Dataphor dynamically derives user interfaces and enforces business rules. This data-centric approach, which is aided by Dataphor's advanced query processor and extensible data dictionary, enables developers to: 1) focus on what it is they are modeling vs. how to accomplish the desired results; 2) shield themselves from the limitations and diversity of existing data sources; and 3) produce more flexible applications in less time.

In brief, the Alphora Dataphor 2.0 toolset provides:

• Real-time translation and compensation for all major dialects of SQL

• Truly automated, dynamic user interfaces based on any perspective of the business model

• Unprecedented support for enforcing business rules declaratively

• Multi-client architecture, enabling both Windows and Web access to the same application

• Instant search and navigation of datasets of any size through exclusive Navigational Access technology

• Active client architecture allows clients to automatically participate in server defined business rules

"This platform represents a significant departure from traditional development methods," said Nathan Allan, Director of Development at Alphora, "in that it recognizes that application development is nothing more nor less than data management."

Alphora Dataphor is designed to enable small groups of software architects to achieve what traditionally requires large development teams. Dataphor's advanced technology helps these individuals to more efficiently achieve complex application development objectives, fueling the industry's evolution beyond today's rapid application development tools. In addition, Dataphor introduces several unique technologies that improve application performance, quality, and scalability.
