Meridium Unveils New Operator Rounds Solution

ROANOKE, Va., Sept. 25 / / -- Meridium Inc., the leader in asset performance management (APM) software solutions, has announced the release of its newest solution, Operator Rounds.

The Meridium Operator Rounds solution extends the power of Meridium onto a hand held device allowing operations and inspection data to be captured in the field. Through automated alerting, the operator can be given real time instructions for what to do and how to react to the situations in the field. Recommendations can also be created to initiate work. All data captured on the mobile device can later be synchronized with Meridium.

Eastman Chemical Company, one of the world's largest chemical manufacturers, has successfully implemented Meridium's Operator Rounds solution at its Kingsport, TN, site using Operator Rounds (OR) for lubrication management and operator equipment inspections. During the 2007 Meridium Conference, representatives from Eastman presented a case study on Operator Rounds and the product's role in its Reliability Based Operations and Maintenance initiative.

"The data from Operator Rounds is critical to understanding the reliability of equipment," according to Paul Casto, Reliability Technology Manager, Eastman Chemical Company. "Having this data in Meridium along with the powerful analytics, trending and tracking capabilities unlocks the value of operator rounds and maintenance practices. Using hand held devices, expected operating conditions can be observed in the field allowing the operator to make real time decisions that improve quality and efficiency. The operator can create alarms for equipment problems that are integrated into the work order management systems. In addition, maintenance activities, such as lubrication, can be managed much more efficiently using the handhelds."

Meridium Operator Rounds provides operators and management with:

o Automated alerting in the field
o Field recommendation creation
o Integration with CMMS and existing equipment data
o Complete route management
o Advanced scheduling capabilities
o Accountability that work is performed

Using Meridium Operator Rounds, operators can create new best practices to ensure auditable regulatory compliance, which can be communicated, replicated and followed in the field. The OR solution can also help instill a reliability culture by having operators see the value they provide to the organization.

"Operator Rounds was developed in conjunction with clients and is currently being embraced by operators beyond our expectations," according to Bonz Hart, President/CEO, Meridium. "This solution fills a gap in handheld technology, providing operators with in-depth information and analysis in the field where they need it."
