IsoView 5 Product Announcement

ITEDO Software releases new generation of the intelligent viewer

Hennef/Burlingame, CA, May 2004. ITEDO Software GmbH announces the immediate availability of IsoView 5.

The IsoView product family consists of a group of intelligent viewers, which allow the display and printing of high-quality vector graphics. Normally, these are illustrations in the CGM format, which are based on the latest industry standards. A main application area for IsoView is the integration into interactive electronic manuals (IETM), such as spare parts or sales catalogs or maintenance instructions, which are either distributed via CD-ROM, or Intra-/Internet.

IsoView 5 is the latest version of ITEDO’s worldwide leading viewing technology for vector graphics. It is available as an ActiveX Control for usage within Internet Explorer, in VisualBasic applications, or other environments. It offers a stable viewing environment for illustrations that can be implemented as integrated components into a number of existing applications.

By supporting high-quality CGM graphics and the use of graphic objects, the IsoView technology fulfills an indispensable prerequisite for a company-wide solution.

An essential innovation in IsoView 5 is the display quality which was once again improved: IsoView 5 was enhanced with an anti-aliasing option. This means, the user can decide in the preferences dialog box if he wants to apply anti-aliasing to the illustrations to be displayed in the viewer. The anti-aliasing function smoothes jaggy lines on the screen and the overall impression is that the graphics are shown at a higher resolution than is actually the case.

Another essential innovation in IsoView 5 is the support of the new IsoDraw 6 file format, which had been enhanced with numerous new features, such as callouts, callout styles and macros.

Also, there have been considerable further developments in the field of the redlining functionality which was first introduced with version 4 of IsoView. The redlining functionality allows the ability to add annotations and markings to existing illustrations without changing the original illustration. So far, it had been possible to export these annotations into a separate file in order to make them available to other user, e.g. by e-mail.

In IsoView 5 the user now has the option to import redlining files into a currently open illustration. “This allows a workflow between various users of IsoView“, explains Dieter Weidenbrueck, CEO and founder of ITEDO Software. “As an example, a technical author of an electronic catalog could add annotations to an illustration in a catalog, export these and send the redlining file to a colleague. This colleague now only needs to navigate to the respective illustration and import the annotations.”

The application range in practice is manifold. As did all previous releases, IsoView 5 incorporates changes and added functionality that has been desired by ITEDO’s customers. Furthermore, several general improvements could be realized in this version. For example, the load times of illustrations could be shortened.

IsoView 5 Licensing

The IsoView Distribution Kit contains the IsoView ActiveX Control as well as sample files and 30 days of e-mail support.

The purchase of the Distribution Kit entitles the customer to distribute an unlimited number of the contained viewer together with his respective electronic catalogs or documents.

A fully functional evaluation version of the IsoView Distribution Kit can be downloaded from ITEDO’s web site at http://www.itedo.com. This version can be used to evaluate the full functionality of IsoView, but must not be distributed.

The IsoView Distribution Kit targets service providers and companies who develop and distribute interactive catalogs to large audiences. In addition, all companies that develop and use complex information systems benefit from using IsoView as a graphic interface to those systems.

IsoView Availability

IsoView 5 is available as from May 2004.
