Geomagic Qualify 9 and Blade Extension Accelerate Part Inspection, Reporting and Analysis

Geomagic Qualify 9 and Blade Extension Accelerate Part Inspection, Reporting and Analysis

Latest release of world-leading software tools provides unique, unmatched benefits for the turbomachinery industry, including aerospace, power generation equipment, and automotive manufacturing

(Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA: November 20, 2006) Geomagic® (www.geomagic.com), a worldwide software and services company, announces the release of Geomagic Qualify® 9 and the Geomagic Blade(TM) extension, the world-leading digital inspection solution that helps manufacturing organizations meet quality standards and improve the manufacturing process.

Geomagic Qualify 9 offers a highly efficient, accurate, repeatable, and cost-effective way to compare as-built to as-designed parts and machinery. When combined with the new Geomagic Blade extension, Geomagic Qualify 9 provides a powerful tool for digital inspection in the turbomachinery industry, with unique and unmatched functionality for the analysis of rotors, stators, impellers, and internal blade features.

New features in Geomagic Qualify 9 include support for multiple coordinate systems, advanced 2D dimensioning features, direct access to CAD geometry, and line profiles, which improve the clarity, quality, speed and interpretation of inspection reporting and analysis. Other benefits of the software's new version are faster workflow and cleaner models.

"Together, Geomagic Qualify and Geomagic Blade enable our team to carry out inspection analysis on a greater number of parts in a vastly shorter period of time," says Steve Vanderkooi, engineering manager at Howmet, who has worked in inspection analysis for 32 years.

Geomagic Blade adds multi-vane analysis for users in the turbomachinery industry, including aerospace, power generation equipment, and automotive manufacturing. Users can analyze and report on dimensions related to turbine segments such as minimum opening (throat) and minimum distance from blade to blade. The software also dramatically simplifies the analysis of complicated geometries found inside a blade for cooling or flow purposes.

"Manufacturing engineers and QA inspectors using Geomagic Qualify 9 and Geomagic Blade can reduce inspection and analysis time by up to 90 percent," says Alberto Griffa, Geomagic senior product manager. "Geomagic Qualify 9 and Geomagic Blade bring flexibility, completeness, and higher accuracy to the inspection process. They give users full 3D automated inspection that reduces design changes and in-process modifications, and increases the repeatability and reliability of the inspection process."

Geomagic Qualify 9 analysis reliability is certified by PTB, ANFIA and major turbomachinery and automotive manufacturers. The software offers direct plug-ins with popular digital scanning devices such as arm-scanners and laser trackers, providing real-time inspection capability. A complete list of features can be found at the company's website at www.geomagic.com.

Geomagic Qualify 9 and the Geomagic Blade extension will make their worldwide debut at the POWER-GEN International 2006 (booth #5616) and the EuroMold 2006 (Hall 8, D25) tradeshows with live demonstrations of the software at each show.
