Electric Cloud Adds Extensible Interface to ElectricCommander

Electric Cloud's Software Production Management Solution Designed to Work the Way Developers Work

SUNNYVALE, Calif., -- Electric Cloud®, the leading provider of software production management (SPM) solutions, today released ElectricCommander 3.5, a fully customizable and extensible version of its tool for automating and managing the build-test-deploy process in software development. Electric Cloud also announced significant upgrades to ElectricAccelerator today (http://www.electric-cloud.com/news/20...).

"Enterprise development organizations always have a wide range of software production tools and processes in place," said Mike Maciag, CEO of Electric Cloud. "Unfortunately they are typically disconnected, slow and each has its own user interface, making it very difficult for developers to learn and use."

The customizability of Commander 3.5 simplifies software production management and removes the need for developers to learn and manage multiple tools. For example, ElectricCommander 3.5 can be customized to extract and display data from the defect tracker along with relevant build and test results, so that build managers can easily track the status of each fix and receive notification when the issue has been resolved by QA. All the information they need is integrated into a single web page, letting them track status at a glance. In another example, UI customization makes developer self-service builds and tests a reality by providing release teams or managers the ability to create a custom, dynamic screen that helps developers create and execute a build or test request using the right parameters. Developers then have an interface that requires no other explanation because it is purpose-built for their role or environment.

"As a company we believe in solving these problems while enabling, not forcing change in the way developers do their work," continued Maciag. "We created ElectricCommander with this in mind; everything from the architecture to the data model and reporting infrastructure are completely extensible. The addition of an extensible UI means that all elements of the application now easily slot into any development environment."

ElectricCommander automates and manages the error-prone, manual pieces of the build-test-deploy process, making software production faster and more efficient. ElectricCommander 3.5, available immediately, integrates seamlessly into a development team's current environment with fully customizable user interfaces (UIs), including dashboards and forms. Version 3.5 also provides the tools to create and share custom plug-ins for smoother integration with application life cycle management tools, homegrown tools, custom workflows, etc.
