PlantStar Introduces Plant Floor Labor Tracking
South Bend, IN - SYSCON-PlantStar introduces Labor Tracking for use with the Portrait and Panorama, v 4.10, real-time plant information systems. This new module offers the ability to automatically collect, forecast, and report labor hours with associated costs by machine, job, shift or employee. With user-defined labor categories, processors can develop a detailed picture of man hours for operators, electricians, material handlers, maintenance workers, packers, tenders ... any plant floor personnel whose activities are focused at a machine or work center. Man-hours are a valuable and costly plant floor resource. Labor Tracking can identify bottlenecks and wasted hours to maximize labor utilization and control costs.
Labor hours are collected when an employee logs in or out with a coded number at a plant floor PC, data collection module, bar code scanner, or a magnetic strip card reader located at machines or work center in their area. Information can be collected on number of hours logged on a specific job, find out when the work was performed, and which employees were involved.
Pull-down menus offer multiple options in each job category that permit you to assign different privileges to different employees. You can determine which personnel are assigned to set-up or operation tasks; choose if you want automatic log out at end-of-shift or the start of an idle period; specify who can log into several machines at the same time; or determine if multiple operators can work on the same machine at the same time.
Most importantly, there is flexibility to assign a labor rate for each category to develop accurate records of both direct and indirect labor costs. Tracking labor utilization provides the measurement tools needed to determine true product cost where averages and estimates were used less effectively in the past.
The Labor Tracking module utilizes an import utility to obtain employee identification and definitions from other databases to eliminate dual entry. The user can access historical data such as work orders and job parameters to simplify scheduling. With PlantStar's open architecture for cross platform data access, labor data can be exported to other ODBC report programs for detailed analysis, reporting and forecasting to maximize return on other corporate IT assets.
PlantStar systems harness the latest Internet and Intranet technologies. From anywhere on your corporate network, processors can view the real-time labor status of all employees currently logged in at any selected work center or labor histories by job, machine, shift or employee.
