SRS TruVolume Now Available for MIPS Cores, Delivering Fast, Efficient Deployment for DTV SoCs

SRS Releases Optimized SRS TruVolume Libraries for MIPS32 4KEc and 24KEc Core Licensees

SANTA ANA, Calif., Oct. 27 /-- SRS Labs (NASDAQ: SRSL), the industry leader in surround sound, audio, and voice technologies, announced today the availability of highly optimized SRS TruVolume(TM) libraries for Digital TV System-on-Chips (SoCs) based on processor cores from MIPS® Technologies. DTV OEMs can now enable SRS' audio leveling technology, TruVolume, on TV and DTV SoCs based upon MIPS32® 24KEc(TM) and 4KEc® cores. With a pre-ported and optimized library for TruVolume, MIPS® licensees and SRS TruVolume licensees can quickly and efficiently integrate TruVolume into their MIPS-based SoCs and TV designs through a simple firmware integration in the audio path.

"MIPS Technologies' processor cores are widely used in the DTV SoC industry and therefore have become a priority solution to enable for our DTV platform partners and product licensees," said Joanna Skrdlant, Senior Director of the Global Platform Partner Program for SRS Labs. "SRS is pleased to license this library to semiconductor companies and DTV OEMs, enabling them to skip the porting step and move right into integration and deployment, saving an estimated month or two of development and resource expenses while adding a highly sought-after feature to instantly eliminate annoying volume fluctuations during TV viewing for the consumer."

MIPS Technologies' 24KEc and 4KEc processors are widely used in digital TVs and set-top boxes. The availability of MIPS-optimized SRS TruVolume libraries complements the existing SRS offerings already ported to the MIPS32 architecture. Available for license from MIPS is a MIPS-optimized library for SRS TruSurround XT®, SRS' most popular surround sound, bass and dialog enhancement technology for DTVs.

"SRS has an established strong presence in the audio post-processing market, and we are seeing customer demand for its technologies on MIPS-based DTV SoCs," said Art Swift, vice president of marketing, MIPS Technologies. "SRS is a long-time MIPS partner with in-depth knowledge of our cores and technology, enabling it to deliver efficient, high-quality surround sound and volume leveling solutions for our mutual DTV SoC licensees and their OEMs."

SRS TruVolume allows users to enjoy television, streaming online media, music, DVD and Blu-ray content on flat panel televisions free of volume fluctuations that are normally encountered when switching between sources, channels, and when programming transitions to commercials. SRS TruVolume is an intuitive new solution that provides listeners with the most comfortable and consistent volume levels, enabling a truly relaxing experience.
